The Rant

A former co-worker coined the phrase when I offered to let her listen to one of my sermons on CD. She said, "Sure, I'll listen to Tom rant about Jesus." At first it sounded funny, but the more I thought about it the more it seemed to fit. That's what we, as preachers, pretty much do. We rant about Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 2:2 the Apostle Paul says, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." That's it. Jesus. Who He is, and what He did, and what it means for us. That's my job, or calling, or anointing. To preach Christ. Jesus is in every book of the Bible. The entire volume speaks of Him. If you don't see Jesus, you're looking at it wrong.

So that's what I'm going to continue to do in this forum: Rant about Jesus.

My hope is to Rant every night by 9:00 pm, so check daily for new blogs.

Upward and Godward part 5

04/05/2017 16:02
I started this Rant series with the idea of setting our affection on things above and not on the earth. And I wanted us to think about "above" as higher, not necessarily physically, but of higher importance. And then we saw that the way to do that is to seek first the Kingdom of God and His...

Upward and Godward part 4

Upward and Godward is actually INWARD. It is the never-ending life-long journey into the heart of the matter. And the heart of the matter... is the heart. God's heart beating with love in our chests. It's the realization--just like in the Wizard of Oz--that we already have everything we need. We...

Upward and Godward part 3

What you see is what you be. What you magnify is what will manifest in your life. That's why it's so important to set your affection on things above. And, as we saw yesterday, that doesn't necessarily mean things up in the sky. It means things of upmost importance. And, believe me, there is nothing...

Upward and Godward part 2

Here's where I want to make kind of a pretty important distinction about the word "above." Because my key passage for Scripture for this Rant series uses it twice: "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection...

Upward and Godward part 1

If you watch the news--which, admittedly, I don't--you see a lot of doom and gloom. A lot of, "It's bad out there, and it's getting worse." Because that's all the world knows. It's dog eat dog out there. Everybody trying to make others seem small so they can look a little bit bigger by comparison....

Incorruptible part 5

03/31/2017 19:03
Being incorruptible means nothing can corrupt you. That makes sense, right? And since LOVE is the incorruptible seed that has been planted in our hearts--since love is what's inside of us--that means that when we know and believe that we are loved, when we receive and release the love of God, WE...

Incorruptible part 4

03/30/2017 16:46
An incorruptible seed produces fruit. And not perishable fruit, either. Fruit that remains. Now watch this: "Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit" (Matthew 12:33). Stick with me, because we're not...

Incorruptible part 3

I don't want to fight with anybody. If you follow my ministry at all, I think you know that. In fact, besides my daily Rant, and my videos, I usually just keep my opinions to myself. But since this IS my daily Rant, I want to talk about 1 Corinthians 15:51-52. With the disclaimer that I'm NOT going...

Incorruptible part 2

03/28/2017 17:15
When I think of something that is corruptible--or worse CORRUPTED--I think of something that has been weakened. Something that has been overtaken by an outside force. Something that, despite it's best efforts, just wasn't strong enough. That's mankind before the cross. Mankind under the Law. Trying...

Incorruptible part 1

03/27/2017 16:46
I feel like I've been working on this idea for a while, but I guess I haven't preached it all out of my heart yet, so here we go again: Through the cross a total and complete transformation took place. From old to new. From bondage to freedom. From death... to life. And this change was so complete...
