The Rant

A former co-worker coined the phrase when I offered to let her listen to one of my sermons on CD. She said, "Sure, I'll listen to Tom rant about Jesus." At first it sounded funny, but the more I thought about it the more it seemed to fit. That's what we, as preachers, pretty much do. We rant about Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 2:2 the Apostle Paul says, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." That's it. Jesus. Who He is, and what He did, and what it means for us. That's my job, or calling, or anointing. To preach Christ. Jesus is in every book of the Bible. The entire volume speaks of Him. If you don't see Jesus, you're looking at it wrong.

So that's what I'm going to continue to do in this forum: Rant about Jesus.

My hope is to Rant every night by 9:00 pm, so check daily for new blogs.

Be Yourself part 5

Just in the same way that nobody can live Jesus' life except Jesus... nobody can be you except you. You are special. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made you just the way you are. And it wasn't an accident. You were created on purpose, for purpose, and by purpose. There are things you...

Be Yourself part 4

Variety is the spice of life. The same thing over and over is the definition of a rut--which, I say every time, is just a grave with the ends kicked out. If all you can think of is trying to earn your bread by the sweat of your brow... if you think that's what it's all about... then you might have...

Be Yourself part 3

There's a fundamental flaw with the religious idea of "do in order to be." If you have to do something in order to be accepted, or loved... that means you aren't good enough to begin with. And if you aren't good enough to begin with, how in the world are you supposed to get better? I know you can...

Be Yourself part 2

11/13/2016 17:23
I've found, through much trial and error, that I can't be anybody but me. Everytime I try to go against my nature, I end up completely frustrated. And I usually make things worse, even when I'm trying to make them better. It's like this: Have you ever heard the saying, "Stay in your lane"? That's...

Be Yourself part 1

11/12/2016 17:10
If I could only tell people on thing about "theology" I would tell them the ultimate truth of the universe: "The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand" (John 3:35). But that truth comes to manifestation only when you understand that YOU are the Son in question. When you...

Home part 5

11/11/2016 17:35
Sometimes you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone. That's why the grass always looks greener on the other side. Familiarity breeds comtempt. You get stuck in a rut--which is just a grave with the ends kicked out--and you start to feel like where you're at is where you're going to be forever....

Home part 4

11/10/2016 17:37
There's no place like home. And that's because home is where your heart is. Home is where your family is. I often find myself thinking of the cross, and my biggest takeaway is always the truth that Jesus' arms were spread wide. He wasn't on the cross condemning people. He was on the cross forgiving...

Home part 3

I said there were two pictures of someone realizing that the grass ISN'T greener on the other side. We looked at the Love Slave. The man who COULD leave his master's house, but chose NOT to. He nailed his ear to the door and heard the heartbeat of God. Now we look at a parable Jesus told. Commonly...

Home part 2

11/08/2016 17:02
Home is where your heart is. And when you're home, you know there's nowhere else you'd rather be. Just like the Love Slave in Deuteronomy chapter 15. He was given his freedom, but he knew just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you HAVE to. And then he had his ear nailed to the door. And...

Home part 1

11/07/2016 15:14
A few days ago I said I was going to Rant about the Love Slave. But then my mind did what it does and went in a completely different direction. But I still want to explore this, because I think it's important that we understand that the grass is NOT always greener on the other side. Sometimes the...
