The Rant

A former co-worker coined the phrase when I offered to let her listen to one of my sermons on CD. She said, "Sure, I'll listen to Tom rant about Jesus." At first it sounded funny, but the more I thought about it the more it seemed to fit. That's what we, as preachers, pretty much do. We rant about Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 2:2 the Apostle Paul says, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." That's it. Jesus. Who He is, and what He did, and what it means for us. That's my job, or calling, or anointing. To preach Christ. Jesus is in every book of the Bible. The entire volume speaks of Him. If you don't see Jesus, you're looking at it wrong.

So that's what I'm going to continue to do in this forum: Rant about Jesus.

My hope is to Rant every night by 9:00 pm, so check daily for new blogs.

The Ride part 1

12/02/2015 11:06
I think a big part about this never-ending eternal life long journey that we seem to miss is that we're supposed to enjoy the ride. I think we still have this mentality of: If I finish the work, THEN I can rest. And we never enter into GOD'S rest because of unbelief. Because we don't believe--or...

Content part 5

12/01/2015 12:28
Being content is knowing, understanding, and accepting what you've got and who you are. Not trying to get anything, or be anybody. And that's only possible when you see yourself in Christ, and when you see Christ in yourself. Because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Without Him we feel...

Content part 4

11/30/2015 15:07
There's a trick to being content. And it's simply where you choose to put your focus. "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2). Focusing on what you've got instead of what you (think you) lack. Focusing on who you (really) are rather than who you think...

Content part 3

11/29/2015 14:32
It's a journey, this never-ending, abundant, eternal, everlasting, Resurrection Life. And if you're content--with what you've got and who you are--then it's an enjoyable journey. It's fun. It's exciting. When you know that Daddy cares for you, you can cast your cares on Him. You can live above all...

Content part 2

11/28/2015 11:14
Here's a verse (or two) that, on the surface, seems to fly in the face of what I'm trying to say. Which is why I want to quote it, and explore it. Philippians 3:13-14, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching...

Content part 1

11/27/2015 15:14
I think--I hope--this will help us with the journey. The journey is not about getting. Because we have already been blessed with all Spiritual blessings and we have already been given all things that pertain to life and godliness. Jesus did it all so we could get it all. And now we have it all...

The Journey part 5

11/26/2015 13:20
The journey of life is not to change into something. Not to become something. The journey of life is one of discover. One of understanding who you are so that you can BE who you are WITHOUT trying to be someone you're not. Listen, as simply as I can make it: If you're accepted in the beloved--and...

The Journey part 4

11/25/2015 11:37
They say even the longest journey begins with a single step. That's what walking by faith (and not by sight) is all about. It's about WALKING. Remember when Jesus was WALKING on water? And then Peter stepped out in faith and walked on the water too? Well, I believe what Peter was really walking on...

The Journey part 3

11/24/2015 11:10
Here's one of the coolest things about the never ending journey into the heart of the matter (which is the heart): It's a two-way street. It's not just us trying to "figure God out." It's not just us trying to complete the journey. It's a give and take. It's receive AND release. Jesus said it like...

The Journey part 2

11/23/2015 15:00
Eternal life is a never ending journey into the heart of the matter. God's heart beating with love in our chest. A maturation process by which we learn and grow. Learn of Jesus, and grow in grace and love. Jesus said it like this, "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true...
