The Rant

A former co-worker coined the phrase when I offered to let her listen to one of my sermons on CD. She said, "Sure, I'll listen to Tom rant about Jesus." At first it sounded funny, but the more I thought about it the more it seemed to fit. That's what we, as preachers, pretty much do. We rant about Jesus. In 1 Corinthians 2:2 the Apostle Paul says, "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified." That's it. Jesus. Who He is, and what He did, and what it means for us. That's my job, or calling, or anointing. To preach Christ. Jesus is in every book of the Bible. The entire volume speaks of Him. If you don't see Jesus, you're looking at it wrong.

So that's what I'm going to continue to do in this forum: Rant about Jesus.

My hope is to Rant every night by 9:00 pm, so check daily for new blogs.

My Favorite part 4

An attitude of gratitude. A lifestyle of praise and worship. And prayer. Praying without ceasing. Communing with God. Hearing the Word of God--which is Jesus, which is love--and speaking that Word. Receiving and releasing the gift you've been given. Understanding that is IS a gift, and not...

My Favorite part 3

Talking about my favorite verse, "Pray without ceasing," has brought me to share the revelation that, to me, praying without ceasing means loving without ceasing. Because as important as is it to speak to God... it is every bit as important to listen to Him. To have that dialogue. That communion....

My Favorite part 2

My favorite Bible verse is, "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). And, as usual, I think we misinterpret the Bible as much as humanly possible. Because I've heard this verse used to say we aren't praying enough. Usually along with the idea that we are supposed to P.U.S.H. Pray until...

My Favorite part 1

Every once in a while I like to dig into my favorite memory verse in the Bible. And I know I say they are all my favorite verses. But my mom got me this one in a frame for my office wall. And, while I don't have an office to speak of, that doesn't make it any less awesome. So. 1 Thessalonians 5:17,...

Look and Live part 5

01/01/2019 19:42
We started this Rant series with the bronze serpent. With the truth that we have to look in order to live. Because seeing is believing. Now look at John 11:25, "Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." Seeing is...

Look and Live part 4

12/31/2018 18:43
This is kind of interesting to me, because while we seem to usually take it in a negative way, to me this is a simple truth of life. John 4:48, "Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe." And that's kind of the attitude that we have about "ye of little faith."...

Look and Live part 3

What it comes down to is receiving and releasing. That's the Divine Order of things. That's what we see--see what I did there?--when the light of the world shines. When the light of LOVE shines. And here's the key: WE are the light of the world. Look at Ephesians 3:8-9, "Unto me, who am less than...

Look and Live part 2

What you magnify is what will manifest in your life. What you see is what you be. What you believe is what you experience. Again, with the understanding that you can't just "believe" whatever you want. Or, more accurately, wish and dream and hope for whatever you want. "Believing" you have a...

Look and Live part 1

So in order to get that Rant series across, I have to kind of mix my metaphors a little bit. But, really, I hope we'll see that its all the same thing. Kind of like how its all about love. Everything in the Bible is just Jesus. The Old Testament is Jesus concealed, and the New Testament is Jesus...

Faith Works part 5

12/27/2018 20:24
This is one of my favorite stories about faith. Matthew 9:28-30, "And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto...
