Comprehension part 4

Here's where I think comprehension comes in the most handy--unfortunately, it's also where comprehension is the hardest: When we don't understand... that's when we need to understand the most. When things look "bad." When we don't know what's happening, or why. When things look dark. But don't they say things always look darkest before the dawn? Aren't we talking about a knowledge that PASSES knowledge? If we could figure it out we wouldn't need God to reveal it to us. We wouldn't need to trust Him. God told the apostle Paul that His strength is made perfect in weakness. When we can't... that's when He can, and will. God doesn't necessarily call you according to you ability. He calls according to availability! He doesn't want us wandering around in the dark--and that's why He said, "Let there be light"--but He also doesn't depend on our human understanding. When Jesus described the greatest love a man can have, laying His life down for His friends, He was flying in the face of conventional wisdom. Because to the carnal mind "love" is all about GETTING. That's not really love at all though. That's selfishness. Love IS giving. I've heard it said you can give without loving, but you can't love without giving. And it's not until we understand--comprehend--God's love for us... "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoeve believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16)... that we can love each other. It's not until we understand--comprehend--God's love for us, that we can truly live. Because to live is to love and to love is to live. That's why life seems so confusing so much of the time. Because we get off the straight and narrow path that leads unto life (the highway of holiness... which is LOVE) and we start looking for love in all the wrong places. We try OUR best, without even understanding that OUR best isn't nearly enough. Let me say it another way, "...With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible" (Mark 10:27). When we stop trying to "figure it out" or "do it ourselves" or "get it ourselves" that's when we can rest. We can be still and know that He is God. Know that God is love. Know that instead of looking for love in all the wrong places, trying to understand why nothing we do is working, we can simply receive and release the love that has already been given to us. We can receive with meekness the engrafted Word. The Word is already in there. And the Word is love. LOVE is already in there. And love is simple. Love is giving. God wanted the best for us, so He gave the best TO us. He gave us His only begotten Son so that we might KNOW that we are His Son(s). The Holy Spirit, our love receptor, has equipped and empowered us to receive and release the everlasting life of God. The LOVE of God. And that might SEEM too good to be true, but really it is so good it MUST be true. Really it is the ultimate truth of the universe. The Father loveth the Son and hath given all things into His hands. Daddy loves you and gave you everything you need. "But that doesn't make sense!" Not to the carnal mind. But to the mind of Christ it's the only thing that could possibly make sense. It's a knowledge that PASSES knowledge. And you don't have to figure it out. Because God is revealing it to you, and in you, and through you, and as you!
