Eyes and Ears part 3
I'm not saying this is the only thing that having Spiritual ears--the ears of the heart--does. It's simply my favorite, and possibly the most important. Revelation 2:17, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it." Ok. First things first. I don't think everybody who overcomes--and how do we overcome? By believing that Jesus already ovecame!--gets "a" new name. Like, it's not one new name for me and another new name for you. I believe that the overcomer gets THE new name. Jesus. Our TRUE name. The new name of the new man, or new creation. And I believe that's why nobody knows it except him who receives it. The name of Jesus--God in the flesh, love in a body--doesn't mean anything until you can HEAR it. I still bring up a time when I was saying something... saying something... saying something, and the person I was talking to said, "I hear you, but I'm not moved by what you're saying." This is what happens when we try to shove Jesus down people's throat; they choke on Him. The light shone into the darkness and the darkness comprehended Him not, right? You have to have Spiritual ears. The ears of the heart. Seeing with the heart, hearing with the heart, thinking with the heart. Comprehending with the heart. KNOWING and BELIEVING with the heart. Eating the hidden manna. What was manna? Bread from heaven. Who is the true bread from heaven? Jesus. We are given the hidden manna--the name of the inner man, or the hidden man of the heart--written IN a white stone. Not written ON a white stone. Not from outside-in, but from inside-out. The still small voice inside of us testifying of our true identity as it testifies of Jesus! And when we hear our "new" name, our REAL name, we hear it like this: "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased" (Matthew 3:17). With Spiritual ears... we hear the voice of our Father. Remember King Solomon? He didn't have to fight any wars because his father, King David, had defeated all of the enemies. Solomon wasn't a conqueror. He was more than a conqueror. And WE are, "...more than conquerors through him that loved us" (Romans 8:37). Jesus did it all, so we could get it all. He gave His life FOR us on the cross, fighting and winning the war to end all wars. And He gave His life--His name, His nature, the white stone--TO us when He rose from the grave and made us partakers of the Divine Nature. I believe the Spirit is always speaking. But the Spirit doesn't yell. It doesn't try take our attention away from anything else. It simply presents the truth in a still small voice. The ultimate truth of the universe as found in John 3:35, "The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand." This is the truth of who we are, and who God is, and what we have. And when we know what we have we don't have to try to get anything else. When we know who we are we don't have to try to be anybody else. And when we know who God is, we can stop trying to earn His love and rest in His loving arms!
