Immutable part 5
Jesus is the truth. The truth about God and the truth about you. Who God is--your loving heavenly Father--and who you are--His beloved Son in whom He is wel pleased. And since we're talking about identity, Jesus is the immutable truth. The unchanging truth. His being pleased with you isn't about what you do. It's about who you are, and who He is. His love for you doesn't change. It's not about earning His love. Not about picking flower petals and hoping you land on "He loves me," instead of "He loves me not." It's about knowing (and believing) the truth... and that truth setting you free and making you free. It's about having an anchor to keep you still. "That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God" (Ephesians 3:17-19). The immutable truth of God's love for us is what equips and empowers us to love. We are rooted and grounded in His love. And when we start with love--remember, Jesus (God in the flesh, love in a body) is the Alpha and Omega, beginning and end--we begin to experience Jesus' abundant, everlasting, eternal, Resurrection Life. We don't let any wind of doctrine blow us around, because we are planted on the Rock and we cannot be shaken. We don't let the world dictate to us, because we know that we are in the world but not of the world. We know that we are IN the Kingdom of God (Kingdom of Love) and we ARE the Kingdom of God (Kingdom of Love)! When you know the truth you don't even have to listen to the lie. You don't even have to give it the time of day. You can lay aside the sin (unbelief) that so easily besets you. You can stop trying to get something you think you haven't got... because you know exactly what you have. You can stop trying to be someone you think you aren't... because you know exactly who you are. That's what it means when we talk about the truth setting us free and making us free. The truth means we can stop looking for love in all the wrong places, because the truth is we've found it. We've found it at the source. We are connected to the source. He is the vine and we are the branches. He produces the fruit of the Spirit--which is love--and we bear it, or carry it, to those who need it. (Which, by the way, is everybody.) We all need love. And that's why the truth is so important. Because just like in the Wizard of Oz, the very thing we need is the very thing inside of us the whole time. We just didn't know it. It seemed too good to be true, when really it is so good it MUST be true. There's nothing in this world more important than love. And the truth of the matter is... that's not just what we have... that's who we are. Jesus is the truth about God, and the truth about us. God in the flesh. Love in a body. God in OUR flesh. Love in OUR body. So we don't try to earn it. We simply receive it and release it. We know the truth, and believe the truth, and share the truth with anyone we come into contact with!
