Secure part 2

Sometimes I wonder about the things we take for granted. For example, we seem to think that "meekness" and "weakness" are the same thing. We seem to think that we are supposed to be out there fighting any and everything. I've said this many times: the ONLY fight we're supposed to fight is the good fight of faith. Laying hold of eternal life. Receiving what we've been given and then releasing it so that those around us can also experience it. We're supposed to be kings and priests not warriors. Let me say it this way, "The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace" (Exodus 14:14). And link that up with Matthew 5:9, "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God." At the risk of being called a hippie, I might say it like this: Make love, not war. So I guess my point is that since Jesus already fought for us--on the cross He won the war to end all wars--we don't need to fight anymore. Even when it LOOKS like, or SEEMS like, we're surrounded by "enemies." I think Abraham Lincoln said it best when he said he destroyed his enemies by making them his friends. I think that's what happens when we heap hot coals--remember that love is a fire--on our enemy's head. We kill them with kindness, so to speak. 2 Samuel 22:3-4 tells us MY method of operation, "The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies." Basically... stop trying to finish the finished work. Stop trying to do what only Jesus could do--and what He DID do on the cross--and simply believe that He did it. Simply take refuge in the Rock. I don't care how many enemies you think you have, they ain't getting through the Rock. That's literally the safest place you can be. And do you want to know the best part? You're in the Rock... because the Rock's in you! We think of, like, running to Him when we get in trouble. Breaking glass in case of emergency. But the truth is, wherever you go there you are. And wherever you go... there HE is! So if we can get rid of some of these "universal truths" that we take for granted, and if we can begin to really just trust in Him--THE truth, and the life, and the way--then we can stop struggling. Stop fighting. We can start... resting. Then everything we do flows from the inside out instead of trying to force things from the outside in. Then we can stop trying to earn what the Father has freely given us. We can stop fighting with everything and everybody. We can experience the abundant, everlasting, eternal, Resurrection Life that is the gift of God--that is the Father/Son relationship of unconditional love! We don't have to take what the world throws at us, when we're safe and secure in our Daddy's arms. When we're standing on the Rock (IN the Rock!) we will not be shaken!
