The Law part 3
We look at the law as something we have to follow or else, right? But let me just throw a little something something at you. "Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression." Where there is no law, it is impossible to break the law, right? That makes sense. A law that was never given to us (unless you're of the poeple of Israel) in the first place. A law that was fulfilled and done away with on the cross. A law of sin and death that was trumped by the law of the Spirit of life (LOVE) in Christ Jesus! Let me say it another way: "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and the mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory" (1 Corinthians 15:54). Yesterday we talked about choosing. Life or death. Truth or lie. The Word (which is Jesus, which is love) of God or the report of the world. The Spirit of life or sin and death. It's about what you choose. What you believe. What you put your faith in. That's how corruptible puts on incorruption. That's when mortality puts on immortality. When we lay hold of the gift that we've been given (by fighting the good fight of faith)! When we stop trying to follow fules, thinking that we will be able to earn our heavenly Father's love though our works and labor... and when we simply rest in His loving arms. When we let Him do what He wants to do... in us, and through us, and as us. Presenting our bodies as a living sacrifice. "Here I am, Lord. Use me to do you." If we can get away from good and evil, we can get into life. Two different trees, right? Don't be a monkey, swinging from one branch of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (the tree of death) to the other. Don't try to simply make your good outweigh your bad. Don't try to turn over a new leaf. Just get into an entirely different tree. The Tree of Life! Eat from that tree. Because you are what you eat. And that tree produces the fruit of the Spirit. Which is love. Feast on love. Fill yourself with love. And watch that love that's inside come out. Naturally. Every day. In every way. Where there is no law, there is no transgression. You can make mistakes and not be punished for them. You can learn from your mistakes. Learn and grow. Know better, and do better. Here's my last memory verse for tonight: "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law" (Romans 13:8). If you're worried about the law (even though you shouldn't be), let me make it easy for you. Love people. Follow the New Commandment. Love one another as Jesus loves you. It's that simple. Let the love that HE has filled you up with come out. It's all about love. Because it's all about life. And living and loving are the same thing. They aren't just connected. They are the same thing. To live is to love and to love is to live. Don't get caught up in all this other stuff. Don't get it twisted around. Don't let things that don't matter... matter. Don't give power to things that are powerless. Focus on what DOES matter. The all-powerful love of God. Receive it and release it. Breathe it in and breathe it out. Let what's inside come out. Love people, and in that way fulfill the law!
