The Word of Life part 4
Why did God speak the Word of Life (which is Jesus, which is love)? So that we might live! 1 John 4:9 (NLT) says it like this, "God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him." And look at what is directly connect to life: LOVE. He showed us how much He loves us by giving His LIFE to us! Because to live is to love and to love is to live. It's the same thing. But catch this part: "So that we might have eternal life THOUGH HIM." It's HIS life. And we're simply partaking of it. Simply letting Him live it in us, and through us, and as us. There is no life apart from God because there is no life apart from love. That's why when the heaven and the earth (the mind and the body... you) was dark and void and without form God said, "Let there be light." He inserted Himself into that void. What else could fill a God-shaped hole but God? What else could satisfy the desire of our heart but love? That's what we needed, so that's what He gave us. Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God, right? He wanted us to live by faith so He spoke the Word of Life. He gave us something to believe in. He gave us Himself (LOVE) to believe in! He spoke, and those with ears to hear were able to receive His gift. (Again, I believe the gift was given to everybody. The Spirit was poured out on all flesh. But there's a difference between being given a gift and receiving a gift. A difference between having something and KNOWING you have it.) It goes like this: the deep calls out to the deep. God is a Spirit and Jesus said we must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. We have to connect with Him on HIS level. Spirit to Spirit. Holy to Holy. Love to love. He wanted us to live so He gave us HIS life. He wanted us to love so He first loved us. You know the old saying, "Before there were cows God created grass for them to eat. Before there was a sinner, there was a Savior." Like the good Father that He is, God has always provided for us before we even knew we had the need. He spoke into the darkness when we were stumbling around trying to do the best we could with what we had, and He showed us how things really are. Showed us what we REALLY have (all Spiritual blessings, everything that pertains to life and godliness). He showed us that things ARE in Divine Order so we could stop TRYING to make them that way. He showed us that the work is finished so that we could rest. He gave us His Son so that we might live through Him. And not just live... not just have "life"... but abundant life. Eternal life. Everlasting life. Resurrection Life. Newness of life. When God spoke He said, "Jesus." He said, "You are my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased." He said, "I love you." And that Word of Love IS the Word of Life! Because life and love don't just go hand in hand. In fact (in TRUTH), they are the same thing. God is love, and He spoke the Word of Life!
